Special Ceramic workshop: 6 days 29 April-4 May by Karin Jarvinen

We are very pleased that we can offer you a special ceramic workshop by Karin Jarvinen, professional ceramist. Karin's way of working is based on a positive philosophical view of life, she is able to pass it on in her own special and pratical way. Since some years she inspires and advises her students in her extraordinary studio in Amsterdam. During her courses, Karin focus especially on the individual wishes and capacities of her students and offers a lot of space for authenticity and development.
Her ceramic art work is regularly exposed in Galleries and Museums.

Workshop: hand-building, space and attention for individual wishes, personal guidance and advice. Totally 30 hours spread over 6 days starting on Wednesday 29 April - Monday 4 May, working hours 09:30-12:00 & 14:30-17:00.
Participants: everybody who is curious or has a passion for ceramic, starters and advanced.
Location: authentic and inspiring out door spot in Kalkan bay, just at the Mediterranean sea. The fascinating location has several terraces, with amazing views over Kalkan Bay, which make it possible to work in a group or individually. And besides that offers the possibility to take a refressing dive in the azure blue sea!

Do you dream of making a beautiful plate or an unique mask? With clay you can explore your fantasy and try all kinds of possibilities: pots, sculpture, plates, masks, etc. You can choose to create an artistic or useful object. Your individual wishes is the keyword of the workshop. Valentine will guide you to a desirable result. She will teach you different techniques like building by hand or by potters wheel. The biscuits (baked objects) can be covered with glace or painted by hand with special paint.

Teacher

VALENTINE VAN HERPEN, Ceramic teacher and artist has the Dutch nationality. She attended the academy for art in The Netherlands. Meantime she has a working experience for over 35 years, of which the last 15 years in Kas, Turkey. During this period she became accustomed to teach many foreigners and local pupils. She likes to advice and guide you in fulfilling all your ceramic wishes. Valentine is a member of the Turkish international Artists association in Kas. She exposes her work on a regular basis.

Location

Workshops are held in Valentine's studio in Kas. Kas is a small city at the Mediterranean coast near to Kalkan. Transfer will be organised by bus. The journey takes approx. 30 minutes along the beautiful Turkish coastline. Valentine's studio is a well equipped: potters wheel, oven and a special space for glace spraying. Several kinds of high quality clay, glaces & special paint. Her libary contains inspiring photobooks.

The ceramic workshop is open for starters and advanced persons. Max.: 8 participants per workshop. Language: Dutch, English & German.
