THEATRE
Since 2006 HAYAL organised, every year in October till 2009, together with Bob van der Lugt (stage manager)
and Oya Capelle Karisman (actress) four different multicultural theatre projects.
The projects consisted of a theatre workshop followed by open air performances were realised during 1 week.
Keywords: improvisation, authenticity, respect and most important pleasure.
Each year the performances has been showed several times for an enthusiastic audience on fascinating and inspiring locations
at the seaside of Kalkan and in Yesilkoy.
Characteristic for the performances: concise, brief, accessible, speed, alternate and humorous.
Due to the efforts of our Dutch and Turkish participants and the children of the local primary school, the support of
local people and of course the audience the theatre projects became a big success.
Each year we have picked a new play, a new challenge, in total we have realised four different plays, of which the
first 2 were based on Turkish legends: Ali & Leyla and Limon.
The third one Tatlim, based on the classic play Romeo & Julia, was an experiment. A combination of theatre workshop
with a singing workshop by Nicoline Snaas, jazz singer and vocal teacher. Nicoline and her musical accompanist added
with their participants and the students of the local primary school a new vocal dimension to the theatre play.
In 2009 we have made Umut (hope) based on an old, classic and typical Dutch play: "op Hoop van Zegen". Several
performances have been realised in Kalkan and Yesilkoy in cooperation with the actors of Yesilkoy theatre group,
local actors from Kalkan and support by the local school of Kalkan, special singing group (25 children of group 3)
and the famous folklore dancing group (6 girls). The Dutch participants, core group of 7 women, worked after their
return back to The Netherlands together with amateur actors with a Turkish background in Rotterdam, they have made
a new performance.
Naturally the input of Bob van der Lugt, script and stage director, Oya Capelle, assistant Bob, translation and narrator,
